Core Beliefs
The following are the core beliefs of Ethiopian Evangelical Church in Minnesota based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.
THE BIBLE
The Bible is the inerrant Word of God revealed for the purpose of salvation and is the source and foundation of faith
THE CHURCH
The Church is a body of believers who are born-again through faith in Christ. God is eternal, omnipotent and unchanging and lives eternally in the person of trinity: God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. God created the universe and every thing in it. God created man in his image.
God the Father
God the Father in his love made a covenant with the people of Israel. In keeping with this covenant, God also prepared a way of salvation for all humanity through His Son Jesus Christ. To all those that accept Jesus Christ and repent their sins, he gave authority to be the children of God.
God the Son
God the Son Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. Jesus Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit and was born of the Virgin Mary. He is God Almighty and complete human being. Jesus Christ lived a sinless life, was crucified on the cross for our sin and was resurrected bodily from the dead. He was ascended to heaven and sits at the right hand of God interceding for our sin. Jesus Christ is the only mediator between man and God.
God the Holy Spirit
God the Holy Spirit is the spiritual personality of the trinity. The Holy Spirit convicts the world about sin and righteousness and judgment. He indwells in believers and leads them to all truth. He encourages and gives them power to live the live of holiness. Until the return of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit will fill Christians with spiritual gifts of grace to enable them to serve Jesus with power, authority and love.
Salvation
Salvation in the beginning, man was made without sin. But when man rebelled against God, he died a spiritual death and was separated from God. The only way man can have eternal life is by being born again through faith in Jesus Christ through the ministry of the Holy Spirit. This is affected when a person accepts Jesus Christ as his/her personal Savior and testifies to the Lordship of Jesus Christ in his life.
Holiness
Holiness: It is appropriate for believers to separate them self from the worthless things of the world and live a life of righteousness in Jesus for the Glory of God.
